Tract 01 E: The Scriptural LORD's Day.

The Scriptural "LORD's Day"

Which Day Is It?

Joel 2:1; Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand.

Zech. 14:1; Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.

Mal. 4:5; Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD.

Acts 2:20; The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come.

1 Cor. 1:8; Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Cor. 5:5; To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

2 Cor. 1:14; As also ye have acknowledged us in part, that we are your rejoicing, even as ye also are ours in the day of the Lord Jesus.

1 Thess. 5:2; For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

2 Peter 3:10; But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night.

2 Peter 3:8; ....be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Ps. 90:4; For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday...

Rev. 1:10; I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet.

==============================

God sanctified (set apart) the seventh day of the week as His day of rest (Gen. 2: 2-3). He reminded His people of the proper 'seventh-day' Sabbath of rest, weeks before Mount Sinai (Exod. 16). He calls it His Sabbath; not the Jews': But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God... (Exod. 20:10). The Messiah confirmed it unchanged in the New Testament: ...The sabbath was made for man [not just the Jews], and not man for the sabbath: Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the Sabbath (Mark 2:27-28). Accordingly, if there is any correlation between the LORD's day and a day of the week; it would have to be the LORD's Sabbath.

The LORD's day in Scripture depicts and foreshadows a prophetic time in which the seventh (last) trumpet will blast announcing the return, or the second coming, of our Saving Messiah. This will occur after the great tribulation when He comes to rule the world with His resurrected Saints (1 Cor.15: 50-54) for a thousand years; while Satan, the deceiver of the whole world (Rev.12:9), together with his influences will be locked away (Rev. 20: 1-6, quoted later). The Messiah will stand upon Zion and thunder His message, as He did on Mount Sinai (Rev. 11:15-19 quoted later; Exod. 20:18), while He ushers in the new covenant. Imagine, without Satan and his influences there will be peace, prosperity, and fairness like never before; thus 'all' will know the LORD (Hebrews 8:11-12; Jer. 31:33-34; Isa. 11). He is coming with great power and glory: Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other (Matt.24: 29-31).

Salvation and eternal life will then be delivered to those who faithfully followed His example to the end (Matt. 24:13). These are they which kept His Father's commandments AND the faith of the Messiah. And sanctifying (setting apart) the LORD's Sabbath day is one of God's Ten commandments (Exod. 20:8-11). Keeping His commandments is a moral requirement for eternal life: .... if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments (Matt.19:17). And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ (Rev. 12:17). Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus (Rev. 14:12). Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city (Rev. 22:14).

God created and designed the week in the beginning by giving the first six days to man for to labour for his daily needs; which depicts the first 6000 years of man on earth. Then He created the seventh day and sanctified it, which set it apart from the other six days; for HIS Holy purpose. HIS Sabbath is a foreshadow of the millennial day in which His children will enjoy a thousand years of rest from Satan's influences.

Nowhere in Scripture is there any hint that the LORD's day mentioned in Rev. 1:10 refers to the so-called 'Christian' SUN-day, or the first day of the week as traditional Christianity is taught, and is still teaching. Sunday is merely an old accepted pagan doctrine (Ezek. 8:14-18), which was adopted by early Church fathers like Constantine I the Great in the fourth century AD, and reinforced by later Church fathers like Martin Luther and their followers. I will show an example how these apostates boastfully and victoriously acknowledge it:

Quote from Peter R. Kraemer, 'Catholic Church Extension Society' (1975), Chicago, Illinois. "Regarding the change from the observance of the Jewish Sabbath to the Christian Sunday, I wish to draw your attention to the facts:" 1)."That Protestants, who accept the Bible as their only rule of faith and religion, should by all means go back to the observance of the Sabbath. The fact that they do not, but on the contrary observe the Sunday, stultifies them in the eyes of every thinking man." 2). "We Catholics do not accept the Bible as the only rule of faith. Besides the Bible we have the living Church, the authority of the Church, as a rule to guide us. We say, this Church, instituted by Christ to teach and guide man through life, has the right to change the ceremonial laws of the Old Testament and hence, we accept her change of Sabbath to Sunday. We frankly say, yes, the Church made this change, made this law, as she made many other laws, for instance, the Friday abstinence, the unmarried priesthood, the laws concerning mixed marriages, the religion of Catholic marriages and a thousand more laws."

"It is always laughable, to see the Protestant churches, in pulpit and legislation, demand the observance of Sunday, of which there is nothing in the Bible." (excerpt from 1998 Truth On The Web Ministries)

In Rev. 1:10 the Messiah put John into a 'Spiritual' vision in which He showed him what would occur on the much prophesied about apocalyptic 'day of the LORD'; when He would return as 'King of kings' and 'LORD of lords' to take total charge of this Satan inspired world: And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God, Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned. And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth. And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament [covenant]: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail (Rev. 11:15-19).

And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years (Rev. 20:1-6).

Each person must make an individual choice before God (1 Sam. 8; 1 Kings 18:21); and each will account for his own works (Ezek.18). Which day will you choose; the LORD's Sabbath, or man's SUN-day?
